Jason watched the other kids from a distance, his heart heavy with the familiar ache of being left out. The sun warmed his back, but his spirit remained cold.
Tessa approached with curiosity, her presence a beacon of light. "Why don't you play with the others?" she asked, breaking the ice with sincerity. Jason hesitated, unsure, "I don't think they want me to," he confessed quietly.
"Let's change that," Tessa proposed with a grin, extending her hand. Together, they played, laughter bridging the gap between them, turning an ordinary school day into something extraordinary.
Jason skidded to a halt, surprised to see Tessa waiting. "Why didn't you take the bus?" he asked, puzzled. Tessa chuckled softly, "I don't need it. I can fly," she revealed, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Tessa soared with grace, her wings cutting through the air. At first, Jason clung tightly, fear battling with exhilaration. But soon, wonder took over, and he found himself laughing with joy.
Tessa introduced Jason to her friend, Jenny, a centaur with a gentle demeanor. They played, laughter echoing through the park, until Jason remembered his movie plans. "Hop on," Jenny offered with a smile, "I'll get you there in no time."
Jason felt a sense of belonging, a warmth that had been absent for so long. Arriving at the cinema, he waved goodbye, knowing his new friends would always be there, ready for another adventure.
