Gebo the lion watched the pale moon lingering in the brightening sky, his heart filled with longing. He imagined its silver surface beneath his paws, the stars twinkling all around. With a hopeful sigh, he whispered, "If only I could go there. I wish someone could help me reach the moon."
Kako the monkey, perched on a twisted branch, greeted Gebo with a toothy grin. His nimble fingers toyed with bits of twine and shiny stones. Gebo approached, his mane catching flecks of sunlight, and said, "Kako, you're the cleverest animal I know. Can you help me build a rocket to the moon?" Kako's eyes sparkled with excitement as he replied, "A rocket, you say? That sounds like the greatest adventure ever! Let's see what we can do."
Kako the monkey swung from one pile of parts to another, tying knots and hammering bark panels into place. Animals gathered around, watching in awe as the rocket took shape. Gebo helped lift heavy logs and held leaves steady as Kako worked. "Just a few more adjustments, Gebo. Soon you'll be flying among the stars," Kako assured him, wiping sweat from his brow.
Kako stood beside the rocket, checking every vine and branch. Gebo climbed into the capsule, his heart pounding with anticipation and nerves. Kako called out, "Everything is ready for your takeoff. Today you will step on the moon, Gebo!" The animals cheered as the rocket shuddered and then soared skyward, trailing sparks and laughter behind.
Gebo gazed in wonder at the vast, silent beauty all around him. He leapt and danced, feeling light as a feather, his mane floating in the low gravity. "I did it! I'm the first from the forest to visit the moon. What a view!" He picked up a tiny moon rock to bring back as proof for his friends.
Gebo is lifted high by his animal friends, their cheers echoing through the trees. Kako beams with pride, holding the moon rock aloft for all to see. "Not only am I king of the forest, but now I've been to the moon as well. Thank you, Kako, for believing in me," Gebo roared joyfully, and the celebration carried on beneath a sky lit by both moonlight and dreams.
