Golu, the donkey, ambled slowly along the forest path, his ears twitching at the sounds of morning. Today was the day of the grand jungle fair, and excitement buzzed in the air. But Golu's heart was heavy with the knowledge that he had no money to join in the festivities.
"If only I could find a way to get some coins," he muttered to himself, pausing to gaze at the vibrant jungle around him.
Suddenly, a wild idea struck Golu. "What if I turn my ears into gold and sell them?" he pondered aloud. The thought was absurd, yet it seemed like the only way. Without further hesitation, Golu trotted off to find the village blacksmith.
The blacksmith, known for his skill and kindness, listened to Golu's unusual request. Though surprised, he agreed to help. With careful precision, he transformed Golu's ears into shimmering gold.
"There, all done," the blacksmith said, wiping his brow as he admired his handiwork.
Golu stared at his golden ears in awe, feeling a rush of excitement. "Thank you!" he brayed, eager to sell them at the market.
With his newfound wealth from selling the golden ears, Golu entered the fair, eyes wide with wonder. He rode the spinning rides, sampled sweet treats, and even won a prize at the game stalls. Joy filled his heart as he reveled in the festive atmosphere.
Bunty, a witty monkey, swung down from a nearby tree, joining Golu. "Enjoying yourself, Golu?" Bunty teased, a twinkle in his eye.
On his way home, Golu shivered uncontrollably, the cold biting through his fur. Confused, he stopped by a stream to drink and caught sight of his reflection—his head was bare, his golden ears gone.
Maya, a wise owl perched nearby, observed with a knowing gaze. "Without your ears, there's nothing to keep you warm, dear Golu," she hooted softly.
Golu hung his head, realization dawning on him. "I was so foolish," he admitted, understanding that vanity had clouded his judgment.
As Golu trudged home, he thought about the day's events. Despite the fun he had at the fair, he realized the importance of wisdom over vanity. He vowed to be more thoughtful in the future, cherishing the lesson learned under the stars.
"Next time, I'll think before I act," Golu promised himself, feeling a newfound sense of clarity and peace.
