Gonduli, a cheerful 7-year-old girl, sat on the porch of her small bungalow, humming a tune. Suddenly, the postman arrived, bringing unexpected news.
[@ch_2]Postman[/@ch_2_d]"Gonduli! A letter for you!"[/@ch_2_d]
"A letter? From whom?" She asked excitedly, unfolding the paper.
"Dear Gonduli, I am coming to visit you in Pune! See you soon! -Toofan" Gonduli read aloud, jumping up and down with joy.
Mom appeared from the house, her face lighting up with a warm smile.
"That's wonderful, beta! We should prepare for his visit."
Gonduli and her mother hurried to the fruit vendor, eager to stock up for Toofan's visit.
"Uncle, I need lots of fruits! A small truck full!" She exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement.
Fruit Vendor[/@ch_5_d]"A whole truck? Who's coming, an army?"[/@ch_5_d] [@ch_5]He chuckled at her enthusiasm.
"Not an army—just my best friend, Toofan! He loves fruits!" Gonduli giggled, and the vendor agreed to deliver the fruits the next day.
Next, they went to a mattress shop.
"Uncle, I need the biggest mattress you have!" Gonduli spread her arms wide.
Mattress Maker[/@ch_6_d]"Biggest? How big?"[/@ch_6_d] [@ch_6]He asked, intrigued.
"Really, really BIG! My friend Toofan is an elephant, and he needs a comfy bed." She explained, and the mattress maker promised to have it ready by that night.
That night, Gonduli could hardly sleep, her mind buzzing with excitement.
"Tomorrow is going to be the best day ever!" She whispered to herself, hugging her pillow tightly.
Early the next morning, Gonduli woke up before her alarm, hastily getting ready and waiting eagerly at the door.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"Toofan!" Gonduli shouted with joy as she opened the door.
Toofan, standing in the veranda, waved his trunk happily.
"Gonduli! I missed you!"
They hugged tightly, dancing with excitement.
"I brought you flowers from Bandipur!" Toofan announced, presenting a bouquet.
"And I made a refreshing drink for you!" Gonduli replied, watching as Toofan slurped up the juice happily.
Gonduli's dad had set up a giant tub outside, perfect for some splashing fun.
"Come on, Toofan! Let’s splash!" Gonduli invited, jumping into the cool water.
Toofan stepped in, playfully spraying water everywhere.
"Oops! Did I get you wet?" He chuckled.
"Only a little!" Gonduli giggled, her clothes soaked but spirits high.
After playing, Gonduli's mom called them inside for lunch.
"Lunch is ready!" She announced, setting the table.
"Yay! My favorite—bhendi sabzi and chapati!" Gonduli exclaimed, eagerly taking a seat.
Toofan had a giant platter of fruits, munching happily.
"This is delicious! You always take such good care of me." He complimented.
After lunch, both were so full that they plopped onto the big mattress and fell asleep.
As the sun set, Toofan sighed, knowing he had to leave.
"I have to go back now." He said softly.
Gonduli's eyes filled with tears.
"I don’t want you to leave." She confessed.
Toofan hugged her with his trunk, comforting her.
"Don’t be sad, my friend. Next time, you must visit me in Bandipur!" He promised.
Gonduli wiped her eyes and smiled.
"Yes! I promise!" She assured, waving as Toofan walked away, knowing they would meet again soon.
