Grandmother stepped off the plane, her heart racing with excitement. Her eyes scanned the crowd until they landed on four familiar faces, each beaming with joy. Khloé, Payton, Mikyla, and Logan waved eagerly, their voices rising in an excited chorus.
Grandmother embraced her grandchildren tightly, her eyes moist with tears of joy. "Oh, how you've all grown!" she exclaimed, ruffling Logan's hair. The children giggled and tugged at her sleeves, eager to show her the treasures they had prepared.
Payton poured imaginary tea into tiny cups, while Mikyla offered a plate of pretend cookies to Grandmother. "This is the best tea I've ever had," she declared, smiling. Logan showed off his latest puzzle, proud of his accomplishment.
After their baths, the children gathered around Grandmother, snuggling under a fluffy blanket. "Once upon a time, in a land far away," she began, her voice soothing and melodic. The children listened intently, their imaginations soaring with each word.
Grandmother hugged each grandchild one last time, her heart heavy yet full. "We'll visit soon, I promise," she assured them, her voice catching in her throat. As she boarded the plane back to Port Elizabeth, she thought of Grandfather waiting for her with open arms.
Grandfather stood at the airport, his face lighting up at the sight of Grandmother. "Welcome home, my love," he whispered, wrapping her in a warm embrace. Together, they shared stories of the weekend, their hearts full of love and gratitude for their family.
