Little Alex stood by the window, his small face pressed against the glass as he watched his mother load her suitcase into the taxi. "Are you sure you'll be okay with Batgirl, sweetie?" Alex's mother asked, her voice tinged with concern. "Yes, Mom! It'll be an adventure!" Alex replied, trying to sound braver than he felt. With a final hug and a promise to call every night, Alex's mother waved goodbye and drove away.
"Hold on tight, Alex!" Batgirl called out over the noise of the motorcycle. Alex nodded, his grip tightening. They zipped through the city, past towering buildings and bustling markets, until they reached Batgirl's apartment. As they parked, Alex couldn't help but marvel at how cool and confident Batgirl seemed.
Batgirl helped Alex unpack his backpack, making sure he had everything he needed. "If there's anything else you want, just let me know," she said with a reassuring smile. Alex looked around, feeling a bit more at ease. "Can we read a fairy tale now?" he asked. "Of course! Let's pick a good one," Batgirl replied, leading him to the bookshelf.
Batgirl read aloud, her voice animated and full of wonder. Alex listened intently, his eyes wide with imagination as he pictured the magical worlds unfolding before him. "I like the part with the dragon!" Alex exclaimed. "Dragons are pretty cool, aren't they?" Batgirl replied, sharing in his excitement.
Alex giggled as Batgirl unpacked a basket filled with sandwiches, fruit, and cookies. "This is the best picnic ever!" he declared between bites. Batgirl smiled, watching Alex's carefree joy. "I'm glad you're having fun, Alex," she said, feeling a sense of fulfillment.
Alex yawned, feeling the weight of the day settle over him. "Goodnight, Alex. Sweet dreams," Batgirl whispered as she tucked him in. Alex smiled sleepily, his heart warm with the knowledge that he was safe and cared for. As he drifted off to sleep, Batgirl watched over him, feeling grateful for this unexpected friendship.
