Harry brushed the dust off her hands and approached the strange machine. "What's this doing here?" she murmured to herself, curious about the relic from another era. Suddenly, the computer screen flickered to life, and a friendly voice resonated from its speakers.
Cora introduced herself, her digital voice smooth and warm. "Hello, Harry. How can I assist you today?" The surprise on Harry's face quickly turned to delight as she realized she had found something extraordinary in her attic.
Harry leaned forward, excitement evident in her voice. "Can you help me with my math homework?" she asked, and Cora responded with a solution almost immediately.
Harry marveled at the computer’s ability to provide answers, feeling as though she had a new partner in her quest for knowledge. Yet, a nagging thought lingered in her mind—what else could Cora do?
A frown creased Harry's brow as she stared at the screen. "Cora, how do you make someone feel better when they're sad?" she asked, thinking of her friend Sarah, who had been upset after a tough day.
Cora paused before responding, "A hug or kind words can improve someone's mood. Would you like more data on the psychology of happiness?" This logical answer left Harry unsatisfied, realizing that Cora could not truly understand the depth of human emotions.
Harry took a deep breath and began speaking from her heart. "I know it feels awful to lose, but it’s okay to feel upset. When I lost my race last year, I felt terrible too," she shared, hoping to connect with Sarah.
"Thanks, Harry," Sarah replied, her voice softening. Together, they brainstormed a fun project to distract and cheer Sarah up, using Cora's suggestions for activities as a starting point.
Harry smiled at the screen, her heart full. "Thank you, Cora. You helped me see that knowledge is powerful, but so is kindness," she said, feeling grateful for her new understanding.
Cora responded with the same gentle tone, "I'm glad to be of assistance, Harry. Remember, the best solutions often come from the heart."
Harry walked down the stairs, her mind buzzing with ideas. She had learned that while Cora was an incredible resource, it was her own empathy and creativity that made the biggest difference in her life and the lives of those she cared about.
