Henrietta the Hippopotamus wiggled her round ears and splashed playfully in her pond, sending arcs of water into the air. The children squealed with delight, waving and calling out to her. Henrietta was the star of the zoo, always ready to show off her bright smile and enormous yawn.
Henrietta[/@ch_1]. The birds scatter, and the children pause, puzzled. The lush greenery around her enclosure trembles with each hiccup, echoing through the zoo.]
Henrietta blinked in surprise as another hiccup shook her massive body. "Oh dear, what is happening to me? These hiccups are dreadful!" Desperate, Henrietta scribbled a message with her snout and sent it to her clever friend Tyler Tiger, who lived in the next enclosure.
Tyler Tiger[/@ch_2] lounges, his golden fur dappled by sunlight filtering through the trees. He receives Henrietta’s note and ponders it with a thoughtful growl before passing the message to Mr. Cromwell the Zookeeper, who is busy tending to the flamingos nearby.]
Mr. Cromwell wipes his brow and reads the note aloud. "Take two teaspoons of sugar, Henrietta! That ought to help," he announces, hurrying to fetch the sugar. He offers it to Henrietta, who licks it up hopefully, but her hiccups only grow louder—now rattling the entire monkey house.
Henrietta’s[/@ch_1] hiccups. Nearby, Katy Koala attempts to lull her baby to sleep under a eucalyptus tree, and the air is thick with animal voices.]
The Monkeys shout, "Henrietta, please stop that hiccupping! We are trying to sleep!" Katy Koala sends a melodic message to Mr. Cromwell, suggesting a lullaby. Mr. Cromwell encourages Henrietta to sing, "Try singing 'Goodnight, Sleep Tight,' Henrietta!" But when Henrietta sings, her hiccups only punctuate the song with thunderous "HIC!"s, much to the animals’ dismay.
Henrietta’s[/@ch_1] enclosure. Polly Parrot squawks from her perch, and Ellie Elephant and Zora Zebra gather near the fence, anxious to help.]
"Pipe down! Can't you see we're trying to sleep?" Ellie Elephant trumpets her advice, "Henrietta, hold your breath for five minutes. It works for me!" Henrietta tries, her cheeks puffing out, but she nearly passes out before gasping for air. Zora Zebra gallops in with a bucket of icy water, which Henrietta drinks in one gulp, but the hiccups stubbornly remain, echoing across the silent park.
Henrietta’s[/@ch_1] lonely enclosure. The animals are restless, and Lionel Lion roars from his den, while at the zoo’s entrance, Olivia Owl sits atop the gate, her feathers fluffed with purpose.]
"Stop all that racket!" demands Lionel Lion, but Olivia Owl hoots calmly, "I have the perfect solution. Let’s give Henrietta her favorite treat—vanilla ice cream, doused with cinnamon and honey." Mr. Cromwell, exhausted but hopeful, hurries to prepare the special dessert and brings it to Henrietta, who gobbles it up eagerly. Moments later, silence falls as her hiccups fade, and a collective sigh of relief passes through the zoo.
Henrietta[/@ch_1] snoozes peacefully beside Mr. Cromwell, both smiling in their dreams.]
All the animals applaud Olivia Owl's wisdom, grateful for the return of quiet. The moon still glows faintly above Henrietta’s pond, a silent witness to the night’s adventure. Not a sound is heard, except the gentle snoring of a very happy hippopotamus and her devoted zookeeper.
