Henry the happy hippo awoke with a stretch and a yawn, his day beginning with a cheerful song. "One, two, three, the sun's shining on me! Four, five, six, what a day to fix!"
Henry trotted down to the river, his eyes widening with delight at the countless things he could count. "Seven, eight, nine, the ants march in a line. Ten, eleven, twelve, into the flowers I delve!"
Henry approached, his heart full of glee. "Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, what a lovely green! Sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, come join me Lila, it's a counting scene!"
"Oh, I'm quite shy and counting's not my style," Lila replied, her voice soft and mild.
Henry smiled warmly, determined to share his joy. "Nineteen, twenty, twenty-one, counting is so much fun! Twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four, come along, let's explore!"
Lila hesitated, but the excitement in Henry's eyes was contagious. "Well, maybe I could try," she said with a shy sigh.
Henry led the way, counting aloud with every step. "Twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven, the sky's a brilliant heaven! Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty, the jungle's never dirty!"
Lila, gaining confidence, joined in with a smile. "Thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three, counting is fun, I see!"
"Thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-six, new friends are the best mix!" Henry chimed, looking at Lila with a grin.
"Thirty-seven, thirty-eight, thirty-nine, I'm so glad you're a friend of mine," Lila replied, her shyness replaced by joy.
As the stars began to twinkle, they continued their counting, their laughter echoing through the night.
