Lucy, a small girl with curious eyes and a bandage peeking from under her pajama top, steps carefully inside, clutching a well-loved stuffed rabbit. Her mother, Mrs. Parker, hovers nearby, her face a blend of relief and concern. "It feels so good to be home," she sighs, sinking into the cushions.
Dad kneels in front of Lucy, his eyes warm. "We missed you so much, Lucy. Tell us what happened at the hospital," he encourages. Lucy brightens, eager to share her adventure.
"First, they gave me a funny gown that looked like a backwards dress. Then a nurse brought me a teddy bear and told me it would keep me company. There were so many buttons and lights, and the doctors talked in big words, but I wasn’t scared because everyone was so nice," Lucy recalls, waving her rabbit for emphasis.
Lucy[/@ch_1]'s younger brother, Ben, peeks curiously at her bandage. The sunlight has faded, replaced by the cozy amber glow of the reading lamp.]
"Did it hurt when they took it out? And did you really get ice cream for breakfast?" Ben asks, wide-eyed. "A little bit, but only for a second. And yes! Strawberry and chocolate – the nurses said I was very brave," Lucy replies with a proud smile.
Lucy[/@ch_1]'s friends, Maya and Eli, arrive with homemade cards and a balloon shaped like a kitten.]
"We made you a card with glitter! Tell us everything, Lucy!" "Were you scared? Did you get to see your appendix?" Lucy grins, showing off her cards and launching into her story again, delighted by their awe.
Lucy[/@ch_1] sits by her bedroom window, her rabbit tucked under her arm, gazing at the stars. Her family peeks in, smiling at her peaceful face.]
"I was a little scared, but now I feel stronger," she whispers, tracing a star with her finger against the glass. Downstairs, laughter and music hint at the life waiting for her, fuller and brighter than before.
