Mya stood in front of the mirror, admiring her reflection. The room was filled with the soft hum of morning, and the golden light danced on her skin. "I love my skin!" she exclaimed with a beaming smile, her voice full of pride.
Mya’s Mommy walked into her bedroom, with her eyes filled with sun shin. She gave Mya the most warmest hug, whispering words that wrapped around her like a soft blanket. "You are the prettiest girl in the world," she said warmly. "Your melanin makes you special."
Mya looked up at her Mommy, with curiosity sparkling in her eyes. "Mommy, what is melanin? Why is it so special?" she asked, eager to understand more about herself.
Mya’s Mommy smiled gently, taking a seat on Mya’s bed, beside Mya. "Melanin is the magic inside your skin," she explained. "It makes your skin a beautiful brown color." Her voice was like honey, soothing and warm.
Mya’s Mommy continued with big bright eyes, "Melanin is like a superhero cape. It keeps your skin safe from the sun!" Mya gasped in delight. "Wow! I have a superpower!" she declared, her laughter ringing through the room.
Mya thought for a moment, then asked, "Why do some people have different colors of skin?" Mya’s Mommy replied with a smile, "People have different amounts of melanin. It's like how flowers come in all colors." The comparison made Mya giggle.
Mya twirled around, her dress fluttering like petals. "I'm like a chocolate Sunflower!" she said happily. Mya’s Mommy chuckled and agreed, "Yes, you are my chocolate Sunflower ." They both laughed, enjoying the beauty of the moment.
That night, as stars twinkled outside the window, Mya hugged her Mommy tightly and with a soft voice said, "Thank you for teaching me about my melanin skin. I love my melanin skin!" Her words were a celebration of her beautiful melanin skin.
