Jamie stood at the entrance of the classroom, his heart fluttering with both excitement and a dash of nerves. He glanced around, soaking in the scene. Frau Podlech, with her warm smile, was already busy greeting each child with a kind word. Her black dress seemed to flow around her as she moved, and her eyes sparkled with kindness.
"Welcome, Jamie! Come on in and find a seat," she said, her voice as soothing as a lullaby.
Jamie spotted Tian and Fiona waving at him from a table near the window. He grinned, his cheeky smile brightening his face, and rushed over to join them.
Frau Podlech clapped her hands to gather the children's attention. "Today, we have a special mission! Charlie the Frog, our class mascot, is hiding somewhere in this room. We need to find him together!"
"I wonder where Charlie could be," Fiona pondered aloud, her eyes scanning the room.
"Let's start by looking around the bookshelves," suggested Tian, his voice brimming with enthusiasm.
Jamie nodded eagerly. "Maybe Charlie left us some clues!"
Fiona picked up the note and read aloud, "Solve this puzzle to find the next clue: What is 2+3?"
"That's easy! It's 5," Jamie exclaimed, his face lighting up with pride.
"Look, there's another note under the globe!" Tian pointed excitedly.
Tian, Fiona, and Jamie worked as a team, each taking turns to solve the math puzzles that guided them through their adventure. The sense of camaraderie grew with each clue they unraveled.
"We're getting closer, I can feel it!" Fiona cheered, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Frau Podlech watched them fondly, knowing that these moments of teamwork were just as important as the lessons she taught.
Jamie carefully lifted the papers, revealing Charlie the Frog with a small note tied around its neck.
"Congratulations, you found Charlie!" Frau Podlech beamed, clapping her hands. "And you did it by working together as a team. Well done, everyone!"
"This was the best first day of school ever!" Jamie declared, his heart full of joy and a new-found confidence.
The classroom echoed with laughter and cheers, as Charlie the Frog became a symbol of their first school adventure, a memory they would cherish forever.
