Jaycion sat on the front porch steps, his eyes fixed on the street as the last rays of sunlight faded. Inside, the distant clatter of his father's keyboard could be heard, a constant reminder of work that never seemed to end. Jaycion sighed, feeling the weight of solitude in the fading light.
Jaycion leaned over the fence, watching Lucy with interest. Lucy wagged her tail, her eyes bright with curiosity. "Hey there, girl," he said softly, reaching out a hand. Lucy trotted over, sniffing his fingers before giving them a friendly lick.
Jaycion picked up the ball and threw it gently, watching Lucy bound after it with enthusiasm. The two played for what felt like hours, laughter and barks echoing through the neighborhood. "You're faster than anyone I know," Jaycion laughed, throwing the ball again.
Jaycion lay on the grass beside Lucy, staring up at the sky. "I wish Dad had more time," he confided, his voice a whisper. Lucy nuzzled closer, her warmth a comforting presence against the evening chill.
Jaycion's Father realized how much Jaycion had grown in his absence. "I need to make more time," he murmured to himself, a new resolve forming.
Jaycion's Father approached Jaycion and Lucy, a smile on his face. "How about we all go for a walk today?" he suggested, hopeful. Jaycion's face lit up with joy, and Lucy barked excitedly, eager for the adventure.
