Jeianne sat at the table, her tiny feet dangling from the chair. Her eyes were fixed on the plate in front of her, which seemed to be filled with a rainbow of unfamiliar items. "I don't like green stuff," she muttered, pushing a piece of broccoli away with her fork.
"What if this broccoli is a tree hiding a magical creature?" Jeianne mused aloud, her imagination taking flight. "And the chicken nuggets are superheroes, just waiting to give me special powers!" Her eyes sparkled with newfound curiosity.
Jeianne's mother knelt beside her. "You know, sweetheart, if you eat your meal quickly, you can join your friends at the playground sooner," she suggested, pointing out the window where the distant chatter of children could be heard.
Jeianne took a deep breath and speared a piece of broccoli, pretending it was a tiny tree she was rescuing. "Here goes nothing," she giggled, popping it into her mouth. The crunch surprised her, and she found it wasn't as bad as she had thought.
Jeianne finally finished her meal, her plate clean and her face beaming with pride. "I did it, Mommy! I'm ready to play now!" she exclaimed, already sliding off her chair to grab her coat.
Jeianne's mother hugged her tightly. "I'm so proud of you, my little adventurer," she said, planting a kiss on her daughter's forehead. Jeianne grinned up at her, ready to join her friends and conquer the playground.
