Kitu skipped happily alongside Granny, her small hand nestled in Granny's warm grasp. The market was alive with sounds and smells that tickled her senses. "Granny, where are we going?" she asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"We are going to the vegetable market, little one," Granny replied with a gentle smile, her eyes twinkling with affection.
Kitu tugged at Granny's sari, pointing eagerly at a pile of fresh lady's fingers. "I want lady's finger! It's my favorite vegetable!" she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with excitement.
"Of course, dear," Granny replied, picking out the brightest green ones. "We'll also get some potatoes to add to it."
Kitu spotted a vendor selling cauliflower and her eyes lit up. "Granny, let's get cauliflower for parathas," she suggested, envisioning the delicious meals they would make together.
"And fenugreek for theplas," Granny added, nodding in agreement. Their laughter mingled with the market's lively soundtrack.
Kitu giggled as she spotted a pile of fresh spinach. "Please, Granny, can we have spinach too? I want spinach poories for my school tiffin!" she pleaded, her voice filled with hope.
"Spinach it is, then," Granny agreed, adding it to their growing collection of vegetables.
Kitu was already imagining the sandwiches they would make, spotting cucumbers and tomatoes. "We need cucumbers and tomatoes for sandwiches and some fresh coriander for chutney," she declared confidently.
Granny chuckled, "You have quite the menu planned, my little chef!"
Kitu clapped her hands as she spotted pink carrots. "Granny, let's make carrot halva!" Her eyes sparkled with the joy of shared culinary adventures.
"With pleasure, Kitu," Granny replied, her heart full of love. Together, they walked home, weaving memories as rich and colorful as the vegetables they carried.
