Leenie sat at her desk, her light brown hair catching the sunlight. Beside her, Remi, her loyal yellow labrador, lay curled at her feet, alert yet relaxed. Today was just another day at school, but every day held its own challenges for Leenie and her cardiac alert dog.
Leenie stood on the sidelines, her heart pounding slightly faster than usual. Remi stayed close, her eyes fixed on Leenie. "Are you okay, Leenie?" Ms. Carter, the gym teacher, asked with concern. "Just a little winded," Leenie replied, her voice steady. Remi nudged her gently, reassuring her with a soft whine.
Leenie sat with her friends, Remi lying contentedly beside her. "Remi's amazing, isn't she?" Ella, one of Leenie's friends, remarked. "She's my superhero," Leenie smiled, running her fingers through Remi's soft fur.
Mr. Thompson, the science teacher, admired Leenie's project on animal-assisted therapy. "You've done a remarkable job, Leenie," he praised. Suddenly, Remi stood, her stance alert. Leenie felt a flutter in her chest, her heart racing unpredictably. Remi quickly nudged Mr. Thompson's leg, drawing his attention. "Let's get you to the nurse," he said calmly.
Nurse Kelly checked Leenie's pulse, her touch gentle and reassuring. "Your heart is steadying now," she said, smiling. Leenie nodded, grateful for Remi's vigilance. "Thank you, Remi," she whispered, hugging her furry friend tightly.
Leenie walked beside Remi, her heart filled with gratitude for her faithful companion. "See you tomorrow, Leenie!" her friends called out, waving goodbye. Leenie smiled back, knowing that with Remi by her side, she could face anything the world threw her way.
