Leo sat on a bench, his eyes sparkling with kindness as he watched his friends play. "Hey, Sarah, do you need help with your math homework later?" he called out to a girl struggling with a skipping rope.
Sarah, with her curly hair bouncing, nodded eagerly. "Yes, please, Leo! I can't figure out the fractions," she replied, relief evident in her voice.
As Leo was about to join the game of tag, Tom, his best friend, approached him with a worried expression. "Leo, I'm having a hard time with my science project. It's due tomorrow, and I don't know where to start," he confessed, fiddling nervously with a pencil in his hand.
Leo patted Tom’s shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, Tom. We'll figure it out together. Let's meet at my house after dinner," he suggested, his determination shining through.
Leo sat at the table with Tom and Sarah, the room filled with the rustle of papers and the clinking of pencils. "So, Sarah, let's tackle those fractions first," Leo said, spreading out her math book.
Sarah watched intently as Leo explained the steps, his voice patient and clear. Tom worked on his project, occasionally asking questions which Leo answered with enthusiasm.
Sarah finally solved a tricky fraction problem and grinned. "I get it now, Leo! Thank you!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with gratitude.
Tom held up a model volcano, his face beaming with pride. "Leo, you're the best! I couldn't have done this without you," he admitted, giving Leo a high five.
Leo leaned back, feeling a sense of fulfillment. "You know, helping you guys makes me really happy," he said softly, realizing that his joy came not just from being liked, but from the friendships he nurtured.
Tom and Sarah exchanged smiles, understanding the warmth of true friendship. "We like you for who you are, Leo, not just because you help us," Sarah said sincerely.
As Leo walked his friends to the door, he felt a newfound appreciation for the bonds they shared. "See you tomorrow, guys!" he waved, his heart full of warmth and contentment.
And as the door closed, Leo knew that being there for his friends was what truly made him happy, more than anything else in the world.
