Levi stood at the edge of the playground, taking in the scene before him. His heart pounded in his chest as he clutched the straps of his backpack tightly. New faces surrounded him, each one a potential friend or foe. The uncertainty of the situation was both thrilling and terrifying. "I guess it's now or never," he whispered to himself, trying to muster the courage to step forward.
Levi watched from a distance, captivated by the game. He noticed a boy with a bright red cap leading the charge, his voice carrying above the others. Levi felt a pull towards the group, an urge to join in and be part of the fun. "I can do this," he thought, his resolve strengthening with every passing second.
Levi[/@ch_1_d] "Hey, mind if I join?"[/@ch_1_d] he asked, his voice only slightly shaky. The boy in the red cap turned to him, a friendly grin spreading across his face. [@ch_2]Sam, the unofficial leader of the group, nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! We could use another player," he replied, tossing the ball to Levi.
Levi kicked the ball with determination, his initial nervousness giving way to exhilaration. His teammates cheered him on, their encouragement boosting his confidence. "Nice shot!" called Sam as Levi managed to pass the ball skillfully. For the first time since arriving at the new school, Levi felt a sense of belonging.
Sam[/@ch_2_d] "You're pretty good, Levi,"[/@ch_2_d] [@ch_2]Sam said, slapping Levi on the back. Levi beamed, the warmth of acceptance spreading through him. "Thanks, that was fun," he replied, feeling the tentative bonds of friendship forming around him.
Levi lagged behind for a moment, taking in the scene one last time. The fear that had gripped him earlier was now a distant memory, replaced by the thrill of new beginnings. "This is going to be a good year," he thought, as he joined his new friends, ready to face whatever adventures lay ahead.
