Lisa sat on the rug, her eyes fixed on the rainbow-colored walls, still feeling the sting of Lily's words. Lily was on the couch, hugging Rosie tightly as if to ward off any more intrusions. They both heard the distant hum of the evening news from the kitchen, blending into the silence between them.
"I'm sorry," Lisa broke the quiet, her voice barely above a whisper. Lily looked at her sister, uncertainty still clouding her eyes.
"Maybe I can tell you a story about Rosie," Lisa suggested, her fingers drumming lightly on the couch arm. Lily hesitated but nodded, her curiosity piqued. She loved stories, especially ones where her beloved Rosie was the hero.
"Once upon a time, in a land full of magic," Lisa began, her voice gaining confidence as the story unfolded. In her tale, Rosie was a brave knight, defeating dragons and saving kingdoms. Lily listened with wide eyes, her grip on Rosie loosening as she became absorbed in the adventure.
"And then what happened?" Lily asked eagerly, her earlier anger forgotten. Lisa grinned, weaving tales of daring rescues and enchanted forests, her words painting vivid pictures in the air.
"And Rosie reminded everyone that they should always respect each other's things," Lisa concluded, glancing at Lily. Lily nodded, understanding the real-life lesson behind the fantasy. She leaned over and hugged Lisa, a smile on her face.
"You're a good storyteller," Lily whispered, resting her head on Lisa's shoulder. Lisa hugged her back, grateful for the chance to make amends.
"Thanks," Lisa replied softly. Lily smiled, knowing that their love was indeed bigger than any disagreement. Together, they sat in the warmth of their living room, ready for whatever new adventures awaited them.
