Livy, an eight-year-old with bright blonde hair and round glasses, lay on her bed, clutching her favorite stuffed koala. Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at the poster above her desk—a group of Australian rangers standing tall beside eucalyptus trees. She whispered softly, "One day, I'll be just like them and help all the koalas in the world."
Livy flipped through a thick book about Australian animals, her finger tracing a photograph of a ranger cradling a rescued koala. Her mum knelt beside her, smiling gently. "Mum, do you think I could really be a ranger?" "Of course, sweetheart. You care so much about animals. That’s the most important thing," mum replied giving her daughter a reassuring cuddle.
Livy closed her eyes and let her imagination bloom. Suddenly, she stood in ranger gear—khaki shorts, a wide-brimmed hat, and her trusty glasses—walking through the bush. She spotted a gray-furred koala perched high in the branches, blinking sleepily down at her. "Hello, little buddy. Don’t worry—I'm here to help," she called softly.
As Livy approached, she noticed the koala’s paw was caught in some tangled twine. Her heart pounded with worry, but she remembered what she’d read about staying calm. "Shh, it’s okay. I’ll be gentle," she murmured, carefully freeing the little animal. The koala blinked up at her, then nuzzled her hand in gratitude.
Back at home, Livy couldn’t stop telling her family about her dream-turned-adventure. "I saved a koala all by myself! And I wore real ranger clothes!" Her dad grinned, Dad saying, "Sounds like you’ve already started your ranger training." Mrs. Evans nodded, "With your big heart, Livy, I know you’ll help lots of animals one day."
Livy hugged her koala tight, feeling warmth and hope swell inside her. She whispered into the darkness, "Tomorrow, I’ll learn even more. I’m going to be the best ranger ever." With dreams of gum trees and cuddly koalas swirling in her mind, she drifted off to sleep, ready for another day of adventure.
