Lori Jones, a curious six-year-old with long, straight, black hair, clung to her mother's hand as they walked through the doors. Her eyes sparkled with excitement at the thought of getting her very own puppy. "Mommy, I can't wait to see all the puppies!" she exclaimed eagerly.
Miss Randall, dressed casually in blue jeans and a red and white striped blouse, greeted them warmly. "Welcome! How can I help you today?" she asked, her voice friendly and inviting.
Mrs. Jones smiled back, "We're here to find a small breed puppy for our daughter, Lori. He'll be indoors most of the time."
Miss Randall led them through the aisles, pointing out the different dogs available. "We have Chihuahuas, Poodles, and even a Cocker Spaniel-Terrier mix," she explained. The room was alive with energy as dogs of various sizes and colors wagged their tails, vying for attention.
Lori peered into each cage, her small face lighting up with each wag and bark. However, amidst the cacophony, she turned to her mother with a small frown. "I can't find a puppy I like," she sighed.
Miss Randall nodded understandingly, "Let's try the next room. Sometimes, the perfect puppy is just around the corner."
As they entered, Lori's eyes widened with delight at the sight of a small brown and black puppy. Mr. Jones inquired, "How old is this little one?"
Miss Randall replied, "He's three months old and very playful."
Mr. Jones nodded, "Can we see him out of the cage?"
The puppy bounded out, his tiny paws skittering on the floor as he ran straight to Lori. She giggled as he licked her cheeks, her laughter filling the room. "Daddy, I like this puppy. Can I have him?" she pleaded, hugging the little dog tightly.
Mr. Jones smiled at his daughter's happiness, "Are you sure this is the puppy you want, Lori?"
Lori nodded enthusiastically, "Yes, Daddy!"
Mrs. Jones added, "We should also find a good veterinarian for Toby."
Miss Randall suggested, "Dr. Steve Nelson is a great vet. He'll take good care of Toby."
Lori couldn't contain her excitement, "I want to name him Toby!"
Lori and her father strolled through the pet store, eyes wide at the variety of products. "Daddy, look at all the different dog foods! Which one should we get?" she asked, overwhelmed by the choices.
Mr. Jones chuckled, "Let's ask Dr. Nelson for a recommendation. But we can pick up a bed, collar, and leash for now."
They picked out a red collar and leash, along with a cozy dog bed. Lori beamed with anticipation for the adventures with her new friend.
Lori carefully placed the bowls of food and water in the kitchen and set Toby's bed beside hers. She watched as Toby sniffed around, exploring his new surroundings.
Mr. Jones joined her, "You had a great idea asking Dr. Nelson about Toby's needs," he praised.
Lori grinned, "Thanks, Daddy. I can't wait to teach Toby some tricks!"
As they settled in, the night embraced their home with a sense of warmth and new beginnings, marking the start of Lori's adventures with Toby.
