Mia, a curious girl with a bright yellow backpack, skips ahead, her laughter echoing among the trees.
Eli, her younger brother, follows with wide-eyed wonder, clutching a well-loved compass.
"Are you sure we’re still on the trail, Mia? I haven’t seen a marker in a while,"
"Don’t worry, Eli, I know these woods! We just have to keep going," she replies confidently.
The laughter fades as Mia glances around, uncertainty flickering across her face.
Eli stops abruptly, his compass spinning erratically, and the silence settles in.
"Mia, I think we’re lost," his voice trembles.
"Let’s stay calm. We’ll figure it out. Remember what Dad said? If you’re lost, stop and think,"
Mia studies the map, tracing their steps with a finger.
Eli examines the compass, frowning in concentration.
"Let’s use the sun to find east. If we walk toward the river, we’ll hit the old bridge near home,"
"And we can blow the whistle if we hear anyone nearby,"
Mia leads, holding the compass steady, while Eli keeps an ear out for familiar sounds.
"I think I hear the river, Mia! We’re close!"
"Keep going. We’ll be home soon," she says, her voice filled with hope.
Eli breaks into a grin, racing toward the bridge, while Mia follows, laughter bubbling up once more.
"We did it, Mia! We’re safe!"
"I knew we could figure it out together,"
Mia and Eli run into their parents’ arms, holding each other tightly.
"We got a little lost, but we remembered what you taught us,"
"And we worked together. We’re okay,"
Their parents smile through tears, proud and grateful, as the family heads home, stronger for their adventure.
