Nataly stirred, his eyelids fluttering as he let out a long yawn. Confused by the unfamiliar hum and distant twinkle of stars outside, he struggled to sit up. The chill of the cabin sent a shiver through his body, and he rubbed his eyes, trying to make sense of his surroundings.
"Gasp! Where am I? Holy Moly—I'm in space!?!? How did this happen? I was just asleep?"
Nataly's voice echoed through the empty vessel, his heart pounding with disbelief. He pressed his hands against the glass, hoping it was all a dream, but the cold and the vastness outside were all too real. Desperate, he blinked rapidly and pinched his arm, willing himself to wake up.
"What is this? Where is everyone? Where is my mom?"
He stumbled over tangled wires, panic rising in his chest as he searched for any sign of life. Every corner held only more confusion, and the emptiness made him feel smaller than ever. His voice cracked as he called again, but only silence answered.
"I need to calm down. I need to go home. I need to go back to my family."
Gradually, his heartbeat slowed, and he pictured his family gathered around the kitchen table. The longing in his chest grew stronger, filling him with determination to find a way back.
"Huh, what's this? Is this a map? What does this map mean? Why are there three keys on the map?"
He gingerly picked up the map, examining the strange symbols and lines. His fingers traced the paths, wondering if they held the secret to his escape. Hope flickered in his eyes as he realized he might have found a clue.
"Is this my way out? Am I finally going home? Do I finally get to see my family?"
The thought of returning filled Nataly with energy. He scanned his surroundings for the first key, ready to begin his journey home.
"What do I need to find? Where do I need to go? Who do I need to ask?"
Uncertainty gnawed at him, but he refused to give in. Each step forward brought more questions, and the loneliness pressed heavier on his shoulders.
"I have to look for something to help me. What's that noise? What is that?"
He followed the sound, heart racing, hoping it would lead to someone or something that could help him escape.
"I need to find out what that noise is. What is this button? I need to press it, I have to!"
With trembling fingers, he pressed the button, bracing himself for whatever would happen next.
Grandpa
"Woahhh, who is that? Grandpa, is that you? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to help you," "I'm here to guide you," "I'm here to help you escape and go back home."
Relief floods Nataly's face as he realizes he isn't alone after all. With his grandpa by his side, the path home suddenly feels possible.
