Lucy skipped down the sidewalk, her backpack bouncing rhythmically with each step. Her two moms, Sarah and Maya, walked hand in hand behind her, smiling as they watched their daughter’s uncontainable energy.
Maya arranged a platter of vegetables beside the grill, glancing up with a grin as Sarah perfected the table settings. Lucy, with her hair tied back in pigtails, darted around them, occasionally stopping to taste-test the fruit skewers.
Lucy paused by the mantel, her fingers tracing the edges of a framed photo of her and her moms at last year’s barbecue. She felt a swell of pride and warmth. "Family is all about love," Lucy thought to herself, smiling at the memory.
Lucy approached her friends, her heart fluttering with excitement mixed with a hint of nervousness. "Do you all want to see something cool?" Lucy asked, leading them to the photo wall inside.
"Your family looks so happy,"[/@ch_4]Jake said, pointing at a picture of Lucy sandwiched between Sarah and Maya. "Yeah, we are! Having two moms is awesome," Lucy replied confidently.
Maya wrapped an arm around Lucy, who snuggled closer as Sarah joined them. "I think they understand now," Lucy whispered, feeling the strength of their family bond. Together, they watched the stars appear, knowing that love was the heart of their home.
