Lucy stood at the end of her driveway, her backpack snug on her shoulders. Beside her, Millie, a fluffy golden retriever puppy, wagged her tail energetically, oblivious to the adventure that lay ahead. "Ready for school, Millie?"

"Woof!" barked Millie, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Lucy chuckled, "I know, it's all so new for you!" Neighbors waved as they passed by, smiling at the sight of the girl and her playful companion.

Lucy paused at the school gate, glancing down at Millie. "You have to be on your best behavior, okay?" she whispered, bending down to give her a reassuring pat. Millie responded with an enthusiastic wag of her tail.

"Good morning, class," smiled Ms. Harper as she noticed the new arrival. "And who might this be?" The students turned to see Lucy and Millie standing at the door.

"This is Millie, my puppy," announced Lucy proudly. Ms. Harper chuckled softly, "Well, Millie is welcome to join us for today." The class erupted in cheers, and Millie basked in the attention.

Lucy and Millie made their way home, Lucy chatting animatedly about the day's events. "You were the star today, Millie!" she exclaimed. Millie, content and tired, trotted happily beside her, ready for whatever adventures tomorrow might bring.
