Lumi lies curled in her soft bed of leaves, her fur almost blending with the moonlit shadows. Her big sleepy eyes blink slowly, but she tosses and turns, unable to settle. "I just can’t sleep," she whispers, her voice barely a ripple in the peaceful night.
Mama willow sits beside Lumi, her fur soft as clouds and her eyes warm as spring. "Close your eyes," she says softly, tucking the blanket closer. "Think about happy things." Yet Lumi’s thoughts bounce about, restless and noisy, refusing to settle.
A small, glowing star floats down from the sky. Its smile is gentle and its light is warm, like a lantern in the night. Star luma squirrel pip hovers near Lumi, twinkling kindly. "Hello, Lumi. I am Star Luma. I heard your worried heart," the star says, its voice soft as a lullaby.
Pip, the squirrel, waves his blossom high. "I’m thankful for warm nuts and cozy trees!" he chirps, his eyes sparkling. Star Luma turns to Lumi. "Lumi, what are you thankful for?" Lumi thinks hard, her heart fluttering.
"I’m thankful… for Mama’s hugs," Lumi whispers, her voice shy but growing stronger. Mama willow hugs her tighter, wrapping her in love. "And for Pip, my friend," Lumi adds, and Pip beams. "And for the moon… and the soft bed… and the glowing star…" Each thankful thought makes Lumi’s heart lighter; the night feels safer.
Star Luma’s voice is a whisper in the night. "You see? A thankful heart is a peaceful heart," the star says. Lumi yawns a big bunny yawn and nestles into Mama Willow’s fur, her eyelids heavy and her heart calm. "Thank you," she murmurs, drifting into gentle dreams. The forest, wrapped in gratitude, sleeps quietly beneath the moon’s silver lamp.
