Max stared at the jumble of numbers in front of him. His pencil hovered in the air as he tried to remember what his teacher had said about addition. All around him, his classmates scribbled answers, but Max just felt lost.
"Why is math so hard for me?" Max whispered, glancing down at his messy paper. He wished he could solve the problems as quickly as everyone else. The numbers seemed to dance around, never staying in place.
Digit the Dragon, Max’s imaginary friend, floated above the bed with a warm, gentle smile. Digit had scales that shimmered like the surface of a bubble and eyes that twinkled with kindness. "Hello, Max! I hear you need a little help with those tricky numbers," the dragon said softly.
"Can you help me learn math, Digit? I just can’t get it right," Max asked, his voice small.
"Of course! Let’s make math an adventure. We’ll start with a game: every time you add numbers, imagine you’re collecting treasure for our dragon cave!" Digit replied, waving his tail and making golden coins appear in the air.
"If you have three blue buttons and you find two more, how many do you have in all?" Digit asked, his eyes twinkling.
Max counted carefully, touching each button with his finger. "One, two, three, four, five... Five! I have five buttons!" he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face.
Max felt confident as he solved the math problem on the board. Digit hovered at the edge of his vision, giving him a secret thumbs-up. "Math isn’t so scary when you have a friend to help," Max thought happily, ready for any challenge numbers could bring.
