Max sat at his desk, his eyes fixated on a small model of a solar system he had brought from home. The planets spun slowly, mesmerizing him as they orbited the tiny sun. He barely noticed when Mrs. Lee, his teacher, entered the room with her usual cheerful demeanor.
Mrs. Lee began explaining the day's math lesson, but Max was lost in his own world, tracing the orbits of the planets with his finger. "Max, could you please focus on the board?" she gently reminded him, but the pull of the solar system model was too strong.
Mrs. Lee had an idea. She walked over to Max's desk and placed a small, colorful timer next to his model. "This is a special timer, Max. Let's see if we can use it to take breaks from our favorite things," she suggested with a warm smile.
Max looked at the timer, intrigued by its bright colors. "Okay, I'll try," he agreed, turning the dial. As the timer ticked down, Max focused on the math problems in front of him, glancing occasionally at his model, knowing he could return to it soon.
Max began to realize that he could enjoy both his passions and his lessons. With each tick of the timer, he felt more in control, balancing his interests with his studies. "I can do this," he thought with newfound confidence.
Mrs. Lee approached Max as he packed up his things. "You did great today, Max. I'm proud of you," she said, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Max smiled, feeling proud of himself too, knowing that with a little help, he could navigate both the universe and his classroom.
