This is Miles. Miles loves patterns, quiet places, and knowing what comes next. Miles’ family is part of something called the military.
Sometimes, the military means moving to new places. Miles likes his room just the way it is. Moving can feel big and loud.
Before each move, Mom shows Miles a picture book of their new home. “We’ll set up your cozy corner first,” she says. That helps Miles feel calm.
Sometimes, Miles’ parent wears a uniform and goes away for a while. Miles misses them. But they always send messages like: “I love you, Little Star.” That makes Miles smile.
On base, there are loud sounds—helicopters, trucks, and marching boots. Miles wears his noise-canceling headphones. He calls them his “quiet protectors.”
Sometimes people say things like “mission” and “deployment.” Miles just says: “My parent is helping others. That’s brave.”
At school, some kids don’t understand Miles or why he flaps his hands. That’s okay. Miles knows flapping helps when feelings are big. His teacher made a calm space just for him.
One day, Miles helps a new kid who just moved in. The new kid feels nervous too. Miles shows them the playground map and says, “I know what that’s like. Want to swing with me?”
Being part of a military family is full of changes. But Miles learns how to find his routines and safe spaces—wherever he goes. He is brave in his own special way.
And so, wherever the stars take them… Miles shines bright—just by being Miles.
