Millie, a sweet red-headed, blue-eyed little girl, springs out of bed, her hair wild and her smile wide. She tiptoes past her parents’ room, clutching her stuffed fox, and peeks out the window to see her friends gathering in the garden. The dew sparkles on the grass, and the day promises adventure.
Millie grins mischievously as she greets her companions: a loyal dog named Patch, and two neighborhood kids, Sammy and Lily, each eager for what’s to come. "Today, we’re going to find the secret stream in the woods!" she announces, her eyes gleaming with anticipation. Sammy giggles, and Patch barks in agreement.
Millie leads the way, her laughter echoing as she hops over roots and stones. Lily points out a butterfly perched on a fern, and Patch sniffs curiously at every bush. "I think the stream is near the big rock," Millie says, referencing a map she drew herself. The friends follow, their excitement growing.
Millie splashes Patch, who leaps playfully in response, sending droplets flying. Sammy and Lily build a bridge of sticks, while Millie searches for shiny pebbles. "Let’s make a fairy house!" Millie suggests, gathering leaves and moss. The friends eagerly join in, creating a tiny shelter beside the stream.
"What if a fairy really comes tonight?" Lily asks, her eyes wide. Millie winks, her blue eyes twinkling. "Maybe she’ll leave us a message!" The group decides to leave a note by the fairy house, promising to return and check.
Millie leads her friends back to the cottage, their backpacks now full of memories and treasures. "Tomorrow, we’ll see if the fairy answered," she says, her voice soft with hope and excitement. As they disappear into the warmth of home, the fairy house waits quietly by the stream, glowing in the fading light.
