I stretch on my favorite spot by the window, my paws pressing into the sun-warmed rug. The air is thick with the promise of bacon, and my tail thumps lazily against the floor. I can hear Marilyn's voice, gentle and sweet, as she talks to Marveah and Mylah, my family—my pack.
Mylah giggles as she sneaks a piece of toast under the table, her hand smelling of jam. My nose leads me straight to her, and I nuzzle her palm, earning a soft pat on my head. Marveah pours orange juice, her laughter bubbling as she says, "Milo, you’re the best breakfast buddy ever! But no more toast, okay?" I wag my tail, hoping she forgets the rules just this once.
Marilyn opens the door, and I bound outside, ears flying. Every scent in the grass tells a story—last night’s rain, a daring squirrel, the neighbor’s cat. Mylah throws my ball, and I chase it with wild abandon. "Go get it, Milo! Show us how fast you are!" The world is a blur of green and gold as I leap and catch the ball, triumphant.
I curl up beside Marilyn as she reads, her hand resting on my back. Her presence is calm and steady, her heartbeat a familiar song. "You’re such a good boy, Milo," she murmurs, her voice a soothing melody that makes my eyelids heavy.
Marveah tosses my favorite rope toy, and Mylah joins in, her laughter ringing out. I dart between them, my tail a joyful blur, every moment stitched with love and excitement. "Milo, you make every day special," says Marveah. I bark in agreement, my world complete in their company.
I nestle at the foot of Marilyn's bed, the comforting scent of my family all around me. My dreams are filled with chasing butterflies and running through sunlit grass, knowing tomorrow will bring more adventures. In the darkness, I hear Marilyn whisper, "Goodnight, Milo. We love you,", and my heart feels as full as the moon outside.
