Imani, a striking African-American teenager with a gigantic afro, red lips, and a blue headband, slips on her turquoise pants and sneakers. She clutches a bright red playground ball, grinning mischievously as she dribbles it across her bedroom floor. The blue of her t-shirt pops against the morning light, her energy infectious.
"There you are, my anyway job for me!"
Sarah, a blonde girl wearing purple glasses, yellow t-shirt, and purple pants, sits on the sofa, her pink lips pursed in anticipation. Max, with blonde hair and an orange t-shirt, lounges nearby, turquoise pants matching Imani's. They smile at Imani, eager to join her escapade.
Sarah adjusts her glasses and "Hi Imani."
Max waves, "Hello there, my friend Sarah! How are you today, Imani?"
Sarah gives Max a gentle nudge, "I'll stay here for Max. Imani, bathroom on your white bathtub."
Grumpy Fish, a gray, grumpy toy fish, floats near the silver spout, clutching a scroll. He glares at Imani as she pulls on the drain, sending whirlpools through the water.
Grumpy Fish grumbles, "Well well well, sound fair, that's safe. I am Personnel just for you, okay for PC CD-ROM Marathon scroll!"
Imani giggles, "Did you know who I am? No fair, okay. I see the flying orange sponges, jumping green bath brushes, and karate light blue kicking shampoos."
She settles onto a yellow rubber duck, riding it like a champion. "I told you, everyone—okay, my living room, no faith in was a saint."
Jack enters with a package of Dr Pepper, his steps slippery from the bathroom water. He grins at Imani, holding up the surprise.
"Imani, I got a surprise for you—it's Dr Pepper, 24 cans!"
He slips, bonking his head gently. "Whoa! Ow!"
Imani rushes to his side, concern in her eyes. "Dad, are you all right?"
Jack chuckles, "Yep, I'm fine."
Patricia smiles warmly, "This is my new house, just begun."
Imani's phone rings, its pink case catching the sunlight. She answers, "Hello? Oh hi, Francine, remember?"
Francine reassures Imani, "Don't worry, my friend. Just friends—make sure it doesn't no sense, okay? Make sure the new house. I'll be there in 15 minutes. See you later, bye."
Patricia nods, "Yep, let's go."
The family gathers their belongings, preparing for the journey ahead.
Jack grips the steering wheel, determination in his eyes. "Francine, just make sure it doesn't matter at all."
Francine promises, "I promise, Sarah, you know—definitely not anyway, just make sure I did sometimes. Yep, we definitely are yet, new house is yet."
Patricia laughs, "Zip it, we got to do something, okay? We going to the place at 2110 2120 N Silverbell Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745."
The car rolls through the city, anticipation building as they near their destination.
Sarah greets everyone at the door, her smile wide. "Yep, this is going to be great!"
Imani settles in the bathtub, sipping from her Dr Pepper can, gulping and burping with delight. She holds a purple stability ball, passing it to Francine, who grins.
Francine tosses the ball back, "Got the ball just for you. Let's create a new story together!"
The family celebrates their new beginning, joy bubbling over like pink bath bubbles. The adventure has only just begun.
