Molly Guppy walked home after a fun evening at the community pool, her fins glistening with drops of water. The night air was cool, and the only sounds were her footsteps tapping against the damp pavement. Suddenly, a tall, wavy shadow loomed behind her, distorted and jerky as it moved in time with her every step. Her heart pounded, and her eyes widened in fear.
"W-what is that?!" Molly Guppy whispered, her voice trembling as she quickened her pace. The shadow seemed to grow larger, stretching across the sidewalk and flickering with each gust of wind. She clutched her bag tighter and broke into a run, her breath coming out in short, panicked bursts.
Molly Guppy burst through the sliding doors, her scales shimmering with anxiety. She spotted Geo Umizoomi tinkering with a gadget at the central table, his geometric suit sparkling under the lights.
"Geo! Geo! You have to help me! There's a spooky shadow following me!"
"Whoa, Molly, take a deep breath. Tell me exactly what happened," Geo Umizoomi replied, moving closer with concern etched on his face. Molly Guppy recounted the shadow’s every move, her fins still trembling.

Geo Umizoomi led Molly Guppy along the sidewalk, flashlight in hand. The city was calm, but the shadows still danced with every passing breeze. Geo Umizoomi examined the area, looking for clues.
"Let’s look for anything that might have made that shadow. Sometimes things aren’t as scary as they seem," he said gently. Molly Guppy nodded, trying to be brave as they peered behind bushes and checked the streetlamps.
As Geo Umizoomi and Molly Guppy approached the corner, they spotted Gil Guppy, Molly’s friend, dressed up for a costume party. His wavy hat and long cape caught the wind, creating the strange, spooky shadow that had frightened Molly Guppy.
"Oh! Molly, I didn’t mean to scare you. I was just trying out my new costume," Gil Guppy explained, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. Molly Guppy let out a sigh of relief, her fear melting into laughter.
Geo Umizoomi patted Molly Guppy on the back, grinning. Molly Guppy smiled at Gil Guppy, realizing her imagination had gotten the best of her.
"See, Molly? Sometimes a little investigating is all it takes to uncover the truth,"
"Thanks for helping me, Geo. And Gil, your costume is really cool…but maybe next time, let me know before you test it out at night!"

Molly Guppy waved goodbye to Geo Umizoomi and Gil Guppy, feeling braver than ever. She glanced at her own shadow on the path, smiling as it danced beside her all the way home.
