Momo held his new backpack tightly and looked up at the tall trees. Many young animals were talking and playing, but he felt shy and alone. When he entered the classroom, he saw bright drawings on the walls and lots of excited classmates.
Momo stood by the door, not sure where to sit. Then, he heard a friendly voice. Giraffa, a tall giraffe with a big smile, said, "sit next to me" and pointed to the empty seat next to him.
Momo felt happy sitting next to Giraffa. "Thanks! I'm new here," he said, nervously playing with his pencil. "That's okay, I was new too!" Giraffa replied nicely. They shared stories about their jungle adventures and dreams.
Momo felt nervous about working in groups. He didn’t know everyone yet. But Giraffa smiled and said, "We can do it together! You’re smart and quick, and I can reach high things!"
Momo said to Giraffa, "Let’s ask Shelly to join us. She looks lonely." Giraffa agreed, saying, "That’s a great idea! We can all work together!"
They went to Shelly and asked, "Would you like to help us?" Shelly smiled and said yes, feeling happy to be included.
With Giraffa and Shelly, Momo felt brave. They combined their ideas to make a great project. When they showed it to the class, everyone clapped! Momo felt warm inside, knowing he belonged.
As the day ended, Momo, Giraffa, and Shelly walked together, talking about their next project. "I think I will like it here!" Momo smiled, feeling happy with his new friends.
