Nina Nibbles the Squirrel yawned, stretched her tiny arms, and scampered over to her special treasure tree. She pressed her nose against the cool bark, her heart fluttering with excitement as she prepared to greet her favorite acorn collection.
"Oh acorns!" she sang, her voice bubbling with joy, "Time to count you again!"
Nina's eyes widened in disbelief. Her acorns were gone! She looked all around, her little paws trembling as she searched for any sign of her missing treasure.
"OH NO! They’re gone!" she gasped, her voice echoing through the trees. Determined, she grabbed her trusty magnifying glass and perched her detective hat atop her head.
Nina dashed through the undergrowth, sniffing the air and eyeing the ground for clues. She spotted her friend, Milo the Monkey, swinging playfully from a nearby branch.
"Milo, did you see my acorns?"
"Nope!" replied Milo, grinning, "But I saw a trail of shells near the pond!"
Nina's whiskers twitched with hope as she thanked Milo and hurried off in the direction he pointed.
Nina followed the trail of empty shells, her detective hat bobbing with each step. She tiptoed past the flowers, waved to the mushrooms, and paused to listen to the gentle snoring of the hedgehog.
The closer she got to the pond, the more shiny shells she found—forming a glittering path that led straight to the water’s edge.
Nina's eyes sparkled with relief when she saw her acorns—all neatly stacked! Next to them, a baby duck was cheerfully nibbling on an acorn, mistaking it for a shiny pebble.
"Oh! You thought they were pebbles to play with!" Nina giggled, kneeling by the duckling. The baby duck looked up, its round eyes wide and apologetic.
"It’s okay," she reassured, "Let’s share them! I’ll teach you about acorns!"
From that day on, Nina and the baby duck became the best of friends. Each afternoon, they met by the pond for acorn snack time—one for nibbling, one for playing.
Nina learned the joy of sharing, and the duckling discovered how wonderful acorns could be. Their laughter and friendship echoed through the forest, reminding everyone that a little kindness can turn a mystery into a happy ending.
