Once upon a time, there was a grumpy old bear named Ben who lived in a big, cozy cave at the top of the mountain. He had lots of toys, shiny rocks, and yummy honey—but he didn’t like to share anything with anyone. Ben loved to sit alone with his treasures, believing they were meant only for him.
One sunny day, Sammy the squirrel came walking by, his bushy tail bouncing with each step. "Hi, Ben! Can I play with your shiny rock?" he asked with a big smile. But Ben frowned deeply, clutching his shiny rock closer. "No! This rock is mine. I don’t share with anyone!" he growled.
Next, a family of rabbits hopped up to Ben. Their noses twitched with excitement. "Hi, Ben! Can we play with your big soft ball?" they asked eagerly. But Ben growled louder this time, "No! It’s my ball. Find your own!" he said, turning his back on them.
Later, a wise old owl named Oliver flew down to Ben’s cave. "Ben, sharing is kind," said Oliver softly. "When you share, everyone feels happy." But Ben crossed his arms and huffed, "I don’t care about happiness. I like my things just the way they are."
That night, Ben sat alone in his cave. The toys, the shiny rocks, and the honey were there—but something felt empty inside. He looked out at the starry sky and thought, "Maybe sharing isn’t so bad after all."
The next day, Sammy the squirrel came by again. Ben smiled and said, "Sammy, would you like to play with my shiny rock?" Sammy's eyes lit up. "Really? Yes, please!" And together, they played all day long.
Soon, the rabbits came hopping by. "Ben, would you like to play with our soft ball?" they asked. Ben nodded. "Yes, please! Let’s play together!" Old Mean Ben learned that when you share, everyone has more fun. He wasn’t so mean anymore, and he made lots of new friends.
From that day on, Ben loved to share with everyone. His heart was as big as the mountain, and he was no longer the old, mean bear. The End.
