Oliver lingered at the edge of the playground, his gaze tracing patterns in the gravel. The other kids were a whirlwind of energy, but he felt like a solitary island amidst a sea of unfamiliar faces.
Oliver sighed and patted Max's head, "Why is it so hard to make friends, Max?" To his surprise, Max's eyes twinkled with a spark of mischief. "Maybe you just need a little magic," he replied, his voice as soothing as a gentle breeze.
"Don't be afraid," Max encouraged, "I have a few tricks up my sleeve." Oliver felt a thrill of excitement, "What can we do, Max?" "Let's find your true friends," Max suggested, his tail wagging with enthusiasm.
Oliver marveled at the sights, "Everything looks so different!" Max led him towards a group of children playing by the fountain, "Watch and learn," he whispered.
"Hi, I'm Oliver," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. Max nudged a ball towards them, creating a perfect icebreaker. The children grinned, "Wanna join us?" one of them asked eagerly.
Oliver glanced at Max, gratitude shining in his eyes, "Thank you, Max," he whispered. "Magic is just the beginning," Max replied, his eyes twinkling in the fading light.
