Oliver sat at his desk, his fingers tracing the letters of a book. He loved stories, but the words seemed to dance on the page, making it hard to keep up. Layla, with her curly hair bouncing, leaned over from the next seat. "Do you want to read together later?" she asked with a friendly smile. Oliver nodded, grateful for her support.
Ms. Jones, the speech therapist, sat across from Oliver, her eyes kind and encouraging. "Let's try breaking the words into smaller parts," she suggested. With patience, she guided him through the tricky sounds, turning frustration into small victories. "I can do this!" Oliver exclaimed, a new confidence lighting up his face.
James, always full of energy, joined Oliver and Layla in the library. "Let's turn reading into an adventure!" he declared, his enthusiasm contagious. Together, they picked a book about pirates and began to read, each taking turns. Oliver stumbled a bit but found courage in his friends' support.
As Oliver read aloud, the words transformed into images. Layla and James imagined themselves aboard a grand ship, sails billowing in the wind. "Look, a treasure map!" James pointed, eyes wide with excitement. Oliver laughed, feeling the words come alive as he shared the adventure with his friends.
"You did great, Oliver!" Layla cheered, giving him a high-five. James nodded in agreement, "Yeah, you're getting better every day!" Oliver beamed, realizing that with the help of Ms. Jones and his friends, reading wasn't as scary as it once seemed.
Oliver walked home, clutching the book tightly. He couldn't wait to tell his parents about the pirate adventure and the newfound joy of reading. He knew there would be more challenges, but with Layla and James by his side, and Ms. Jones's guidance, he was ready for whatever came next.
