Parley, a happy little boy with bright eyes and a well-loved cowboy hat perched atop his head, skipped through the yard with his boots thudding against the earth. He carried a wicker basket, eager to collect the morning’s fresh eggs, his cheeks dimpled with a wide grin. Inside the chicken coop, he gently reached beneath fluffy hens, whispering softly as he gathered warm eggs. The farm buzzed with life, and Parley loved every minute of it.
Parley reached into a tin pail, sprinkling grain along the trough. The goats crowded around, their tiny hooves tapping eagerly. He giggled as one nibbled at his shoelace. Just then, Dad, tall and strong with a kind smile, approached with two older boys behind him, their boots caked with mud from morning chores.

"Parley, how about joining me and your brothers for a ride today?"
Parley’s eyes lit up and he bounced with excitement, hugging his hat to his chest. He glanced at his brothers, who grinned back in anticipation. "Yes, please! I love horseback riding!"
Parley rode with Dad, feeling safe and happy as they trotted up grassy hills. Sunbeams danced through leafy branches, dappling the ground with gold and green. Birds sang overhead, and the steady rhythm of hooves soothed them all. "Hold on tight, partner," Dad said, and Parley giggled, gripping the saddle horn.
They spread out sandwiches and cold lemonade, laughter echoing through the trees. Parley shared stories with his brothers, while Dad pointed out animal tracks nearby. "Look, Dad! Is that a deer track?"
"Sure is, son. Maybe we’ll spot one on our way back," Dad replied, his eyes twinkling.
Together, the family explored new paths, each discovery a small adventure. Parley found a smooth, round stone and tucked it into his pocket as a keepsake. The ride home was filled with stories and songs, the farm’s red roof appearing in the distance as dusk settled.
Parley recounted the day’s adventures, eyes shining as he described their woodland discoveries. Dad smiled proudly at his sons, grateful for the simple joys of farm life. "I can’t wait for our next ride, Dad," Parley said, already dreaming of tomorrow’s adventures.
