The day began with a gentle hush, as sunlight streamed in through the classroom windows, painting golden stripes across the floor. The children, bouncing with excitement, gathered on the bright rug, eager for the day’s special event: Poetry Parade! Posters of silly rhymes and giggling animals decorated the walls, promising fun and surprises ahead.
Ms. Penny, the cheerful teacher with a twinkle in her eye, opened the poetry book with a flourish. "Today, we’ll let our imaginations soar! What if you read a poem about a tiger in an ice cream shop, or a snake who’s an acrobat in a circus?" The children giggled, picturing such silly scenes, and a sense of wonder filled the room.
Inside the poem, a tiger politely ordered a double scoop of bubblegum swirl, his whiskers twitching with delight. Children imagined him licking his cone, stripes gleaming under the parlor lights, while the shopkeeper, a pink flamingo, grinned behind the counter. Sammy, the class joker, couldn’t help but chime in, "I bet he likes sprinkles on his tail, too!" and laughter erupted.
Next came the poem of Sally the Snake, the world’s wiggliest acrobat. She looped and soared, twisting into loops and ribbons, astonishing the audience with her daring flips. The children clapped along, eyes sparkling as they imagined lions, monkeys, and elephants cheering Sally on.
Inspired, the children tried reciting their favorite lines, voices ringing with joy. Some acted out the silly moments, pretending to balance on imaginary tightropes or lick enormous cones. "See how poetry brings smiles and laughter? These are the treasures you’ll carry with you," said Ms. Penny, her voice soft and proud.
As the Poetry Parade drew to a close, the children hugged their books tightly, promising to remember their favorite poems. The laughter and rhymes echoed in their hearts, promising moments of pleasure long after the day was done. Poetry, they knew, would always be a treasure to recall and recite, filling every day with giggles and bright, shining smiles.
