Lily, a bright-eyed girl with pigtails, watched as her basset hound, Max, sniffed around the yard. She had just finished reading a book about dog training and was eager to start. "Okay, Max, it's time to learn something new today!"
Lily placed the training pad on the grass, excitement bubbling in her chest. Max, with his droopy eyes and floppy ears, looked up at her expectantly. "First, we find the right spot, Max," she explained, pointing to the pad.
Max trotted over to the pad, his nose twitching. Lily watched with bated breath as he circled it a few times. "That's it, Max, good boy," she encouraged, clapping her hands softly.
Max paused, his attention diverted by the swirling leaves. Lily sighed, recognizing the challenge of keeping Max focused. "Let's try again, buddy," she said, gently guiding him back to the pad.
With patience and persistence, Max finally settled on the pad, his eyes meeting Lily's with a spark of understanding. "You did it, Max! You did it!" She cheered, showering him with praise and a treat.
Lily embraced Max, her heart swelling with pride for her clever companion. "This is just the beginning, Max. We're going to have so much fun learning together," she whispered, as Max barked happily in agreement.
