Pudle, a fluffy golden dog with expressive brown eyes, stretches on his favorite rug and yawns. He pads quietly into the bedroom, where his owner, Martha, is just beginning to wake. "Good morning, Martha. Time to start the day!" Pudle's tail wags as he nudges her hand with his nose.
Martha, a kind woman in her seventies, smiles down at Pudle as she pours kibble into his bowl. "You never let me forget breakfast, do you, Pudle?" Pudle barks cheerfully and sits patiently until she is settled at the table, then eats beside her, keeping a gentle watch as she sips her tea.
Pudle leads Martha down the winding path, never straying far. He glances back often, checking on her as she moves at her own pace. When a group of children run by, Pudle positions himself between them and Martha, ever her silent guardian.
Martha sighs, looking out at the gray world, her joints aching with the change in weather. Pudle jumps onto the couch, nestling close and resting his head on her lap. "Thank you, dear friend. You always know when I need you," she whispers as she strokes his soft ears.
Pudle reacts instantly, steadying her with his sturdy body and barking for attention. Martha catches herself, grateful, and steadies her breath. "My hero, Pudle! What would I do without you?"
Pudle curls at the foot of Martha's bed, his eyes closing but his ears still alert. Martha reaches down to scratch behind his ears, her smile visible even in the low light. "Goodnight, Pudle. Sleep well, my guardian," she whispers, and together, they drift into a peaceful rest, content in the comfort of their unwavering bond.
