Suzy the Unicorn pranced happily beneath the rainbow, her pink coat shining in the sun and her purple sparkly mane bouncing with every graceful step. Her light blue hooves tapped a cheerful rhythm on the grass as she spun in circles and laughed at the colors dancing over her back. "What a magical morning this is, with all these lovely colors twirling around me like a song made of sunshine and dreams,"
Clementine the Dragon peeked out from behind the flowers, watching Suzy the Unicorn with wide, hopeful eyes. Her colorful sparkly scales shimmered in the sunlight, and her pink nails pressed nervously into the earth as she wondered how to join the fun. "I want to play under the rainbow too, but what if I ask the wrong way, or what if she thinks I am interrupting something special,"
Clementine the Dragon took one step forward, then quickly stepped back again. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out, and soon a heavy feeling settled in her chest. Her eyes filled with tears as she sat down in the grass, upset that she did not know how to ask for a turn to play.
Suzy the Unicorn stopped prancing when she saw Clementine the Dragon sitting alone with drooping shoulders. She trotted gently across the grass, her expression soft and kind, until she stood beside her. "Clementine, you look sad, and I do not want you to feel lonely over here by yourself, so will you please tell me what is wrong,"
Clementine the Dragon sniffled and brushed away a tear with one sparkly paw. She looked up at Suzy the Unicorn, embarrassed but comforted by her gentle voice. "I saw you playing under the rainbow, and it looked so beautiful and fun that I wanted to join you, but I did not know how to ask, and then I felt silly and left out and everything inside me started to feel too big,"
Suzy the Unicorn smiled with warm understanding and lowered her head so Clementine the Dragon could see her clearly. "Oh, Clementine, you never need to feel silly for wanting to play with me, because I would be so happy to share the rainbow with you, and next time you can simply say, 'May I play too,' and I will always listen," Clementine the Dragon blinked in surprise, and a small hopeful smile began to return to her face.
Clementine the Dragon stood up, took a brave breath, and lifted her chin. "May I play too, Suzy, because I would really love to dance and twirl with you under this rainbow and feel part of the magic with my friend," Suzy the Unicorn gave a delighted little hop, and soon both friends were spinning together, Clementine laughing as Suzy showed her how to prance in bright looping circles.
Side by side, Suzy the Unicorn and Clementine the Dragon rested in the grass, smiling as they watched the last colors shimmer above them. Clementine had learned that asking could be brave, and Suzy had shown how kindness can make room for everyone. Together they discovered that a rainbow feels even more magical when it is shared with a friend.
