Ramie, a four-year-old boy with bright eyes and a curious smile, hugs his stuffed dinosaur tightly. The dinosaur, a patchwork of red, light brown, green, and dark gray, blinks its button eyes and stretches as if waking from a long nap. Milo, the dinosaur, is Ramie's best friend—alive when no one else is watching.
"Ready for a big day, Ramie? Maybe we’ll meet new friends at the playground!"
"I hope so, Milo! But I get nervous sometimes. What if they don’t like me or you?"
Ramie walks hand-in-hand with his mother, Mama, while Milo peeks out from his backpack. The sound of sneakers on mulch and happy shouts fill the air as Ramie approaches the sandbox. He spots a group of kids building a castle and hesitates, clutching Milo a little tighter.
"You’re brave, Ramie. Just say hello. I’ll be right here with you,"
"Okay, Milo. Let’s try,"
Ramie stands at the edge, gathering courage. He gently places Milo on the sand, the dinosaur’s patchwork colors bright against the beige grains.
"Hi, can I help build? This is my friend, Milo. He loves castles,"
Ella, a girl with curly hair and a pink dress, looks at Milo and smiles. "Wow, he’s so cool! Let’s make him king of the castle!"
Milo sits perched atop the highest tower, his button eyes sparkling. Ramie relaxes, his earlier nerves forgotten. When some bigger kids approach and knock over part of the castle, Ramie hesitates, but Milo quietly encourages him.
"It’s okay to speak up, Ramie. You can be brave for everyone,"
"Excuse me, can you please help us fix it? We worked really hard,"
The older kids pause, then kneel to help rebuild, their faces softening.
Ramie, still clutching Milo, follows Mama down the cereal aisle. A little boy nearby points at Milo and grins. Ramie beams in return, remembering what he learned at the playground.
"Hi! This is Milo. He loves shopping for apples. Do you want to help us pick some?"
Jayden, the boy, nods excitedly. "I love apples! Let’s find the red ones,"
Ramie cuddles Milo close, thinking of his day. He remembers the bravery it took to make friends and the joy of sharing adventures, even in small ways.
"Thank you for helping me be brave today, Milo. I think tomorrow will be even better,"
"I’ll always be here, Ramie. Let’s dream of our next adventure together,"
