Charlotte, a seven-year-old girl with dark hair and sparkling brown eyes, knelt by the hamster cage, her face full of delight. She watched Rascal, her plump brown hamster, scampering in circles. "Good morning, Rascal! Are you ready for some breakfast?" she giggled, dropping a sunflower seed into his tiny paws. As she turned to pick up her drawing pad, she didn't notice the cage door was not properly latched.
Rascal had wriggled free from his cage, his whiskers twitching with adventure. He scurried across the hallway and into the bathroom, where he found a tiny opening behind the toilet. Driven by curiosity, he squeezed through and disappeared into the dry wall, leaving only a faint shuffling sound behind.
Charlotte searched frantically, her eyes scanning every nook and cranny. "Rascal? Rascal, where are you? Please come out!" Her voice trembled as she followed the trail to the bathroom. She knelt beside the toilet, peering into the shadowy gap. "Oh no, I can't see you! Rascal, please, I'm right here," she pleaded, her arm stretched as far as it would go, fingers just brushing the edge of the hole.

Charlotte’s Father, a gentle man with kind eyes and rolled-up sleeves, knelt beside his daughter. "Don't worry, Charlotte. We'll get Rascal out together," he assured her, examining the wall. He carefully measured and marked the plasterboard, then reached for a small saw. "Please be careful, Daddy. Rascal is really scared," Charlotte whispered, clutching her favorite stuffed rabbit for comfort.
Charlotte’s Father[/@ch_3] gently cuts a neat square in the wall. The smell of drywall mixes with the faint scent of hamster bedding.]
The sound of sawing fills the small room as Charlotte’s Father works slowly and patiently. At last, he lifts away the cut section, revealing a frightened Rascal, his brown fur dusted with white powder. "There you are, little explorer," he says softly, reaching in to scoop up the trembling hamster. Charlotte's eyes fill with tears of relief as she reaches out her hands.
Charlotte hugs Rascal gently, pressing her cheek against his soft fur. "I'm so glad you're safe, Rascal. No more adventures for you today," she murmurs, her voice thick with happiness. She places him carefully back in his cage and showers him with treats—crisp apple slices and pumpkin seeds—while Charlotte’s Father watches with a smile. The afternoon sun glows through the window, wrapping the room in warmth and peace.
