Rooshda sat by the window, her school uniform crisp and her satchel packed with books. Her eyes were fixed on the pages of the Quran, her lips moving silently as she recited the verses.
Adnan, her little brother, bounced into the room with boundless energy, his laughter filling the space. "Rooshda, are you ready for another adventure today?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Always," Rooshda replied with a smile, closing her book gently. "But first, let's head to school. We can explore more on the way back."
Rooshda held Adnan's hand as they made their way through the crowd. She waved at her friends and exchanged greetings, her enthusiasm evident in her every step.
"I wish I could stay with you at school," Adnan pouted, glancing at the older children with envy.
"Your time will come, little one," Rooshda reassured him, kneeling down to his level. "For now, make sure you have fun at the playground, and I'll tell you everything I learn today when I get back."
Rooshda sat in the front row, her hand frequently shooting up to answer questions. She loved the feeling of understanding something new and the way knowledge seemed to open up new worlds.
"Learning is a journey," the teacher said, her eyes meeting Rooshda's with encouragement. "And you all are doing wonderfully on this path."
Adnan tugged at Rooshda's sleeve, pointing to an alley lined with vibrant murals. "Let's go see what's there," he urged, his curiosity piqued.
"Alright, but stay close," Rooshda agreed, leading the way. Each mural told a story, capturing the essence of their community and its rich heritage.
Rooshda opened her Quran once more, the day's adventures still fresh in her mind. Adnan sat beside her, resting his head on her shoulder, content and sleepy.
"Today was a good day," Adnan murmured, his voice drowsy.
"Yes, it was," Rooshda agreed softly, feeling a deep sense of peace. "And tomorrow will be even better."
Rooshda watched as Adnan drifted into sleep, his dreams surely filled with the wonders of their day. She closed her Quran, her heart full of gratitude for the simple joys that filled her life.
"Goodnight, Adnan," she whispered, tucking him in with care. As she looked out at the night sky, she felt a deep connection to her faith and her family, knowing that each day was a gift to be cherished.
