Ruby blinked in the dappled sunlight, her fur still damp from the wild weather. She stepped softly over a muddy puddle, her nose twitching curiously.
Suddenly, a gentle rustle from the ferns caught her attention. Out tumbled Sira, looking bedraggled but safe, with river grass tangled in her fur.
"Hello? Is anyone else here?"
Pip appeared, shaking mud from his fur, eyes wide with surprise and relief at seeing other faces.
"I’m Ruby! Did the storm bring you here too?"
"Yes! I slid down the hillside in a big, muddy rush. Everything was moving so fast!"
"I was swept down the river and landed right over there. I’m Sira."
The three looked at each other, realizing they were all lost—but not alone.
Ruby led the way, hopping over a log and turning to see Sira and Pip following close behind.
"Let’s find out where this path goes. Maybe it will lead us home!"
They balanced on rocks and skipped over puddles, helping each other climb and laughing as they went.
"Watch out! This one’s slippery," he called, steadying Sira with a gentle paw.
"Look at all the berries! I’m so hungry after all that rushing around,"
The friends munched happily, juice staining their whiskers and paws.
"These are the best huckleberries I’ve ever tasted,"
"Let’s gather some for the journey. Who knows where we’ll end up next?"
Ruby peered inside, her eyes wide with wonder and a little fear.
"Should we go in? It looks like an adventure!"
"Let’s stick together. We’re brave when we’re all together," replied Pip, taking a step inside.
They explored the twisting tunnel, echoes of their laughter bouncing off the stone.
Ruby looked around, recognizing the same puddles and ferns from that morning.
"We made it back!" she cheered, tail waving.
"And we’re not lost anymore. We’re friends," said Pip, grinning.
The three cuddled together in the soft moss, warm and happy, ready for their next adventure—together.
