Lily, a curious first grader with pigtails and bright eyes, hops onto a chair, swinging her legs excitedly. Her little brother, Max, sits beside her, clutching his favorite blue cup. Their mom, Mrs. Brown, pours milk carefully.
"Mom, why do we have to be so careful at home?"
"Because being safe keeps everyone happy and healthy," she replies with a warm smile.
Max reaches for the kettle, but Mrs. Brown quickly moves his hand away.
"Hot things can burn you, Max. Let's always ask for help when we need something from the stove or counter," she says gently.
"We should never touch sharp or hot things without a grown-up," Lily adds, remembering a lesson from school.
Max dashes around, nearly tripping over a toy car. Lily pauses, noticing the clutter.
"Let's pick up our toys so no one trips and gets hurt," she suggests, gathering blocks into a basket.
"And keep the books off the floor so the puppy doesn't chew them!" Max giggles, helping out.
Lily steps toward the door, drawn by the music, but Mrs. Brown calls out.
"Remember, we never open the door or leave the house without telling a grown-up," she reminds them.
"If we see someone we don't know, we should always ask you first," Max recites, nodding seriously.
Lily watches as Mrs. Brown plugs in a lamp.
"Only grown-ups should touch plugs and wires," she explains. Lily nods, repeating the rule to Max.
"Let's keep our fingers and toys away from outlets. Electricity is helpful, but it can hurt us if we're not careful."
Lily snuggles under her blanket, turning to Max.
"We did a good job being safe today," she whispers.
"I like knowing our home is safe and happy," Max replies sleepily, as Mrs. Brown kisses them goodnight and turns off the light.
