Samuel grinned as he joined his friends, his charismatic smile lighting up his face. Camp supervisors gathered the group, their brightly colored vests catching the light as they stood before the bus.
"I can't wait to see the forest and maybe spot some animals!" The supervisors reminded everyone about campfire safety, keeping away from wildlife, and the importance of sticking with the group, their voices firm yet friendly.
As the bus travels deeper into the forest, the campers gasp in amazement. A bear drinks leisurely from the riverbank, its fur glistening in the sunlight. An eagle soars in the clear blue sky, wings spread wide, while a family of deer bounds gracefully along the tree line beside the road.
"Did you see that bear? It's huge!" whispers Samuel, nudging his friend beside him. The bus is alive with chatter and wonder as the wilderness unfolds before their eyes.
The supervisors repeat their safety instructions, ensuring every child understands the importance of staying together and respecting nature. The children, eager and attentive, nod along, their excitement barely contained. After a brief orientation, the supervisors invite everyone to change for a swim.
Samuel heads to his cabin, dropping his belongings on a neatly made bed, and quickly changes into his swim trunks. He races toward the pool, feeling the cool breeze and the promise of fun.
Supervisors guide the children, teaching them to identify tree types—oak, pine, maple—and to listen for the rustle of chipmunks or the croak of frogs. Samuel walks beside his friends, eyes wide as he spots squirrels darting up trunks and frogs leaping from mossy rocks.
"I never knew there were so many kinds of trees," Samuel marvels, feeling proud to share what he learns with his group.
Samuel listens to the supervisors explain fishing basics, recalling how his dad loves to fish as well. He feels a thrill when his rod tugs, reeling in two fish and offering one to his friend who didn’t catch any.
"Here, you can have one of mine," Samuel says generously. As twilight falls, the group gathers around the campfire, learning fire safety, and roasting marshmallows for gooey, chocolatey s'mores. Laughter echoes, and the scent of smoke mingles with sweetness.
Samuel feels a bittersweet tug—sad to leave, but eager to return home with stories to tell. He hugs his friends, promising to remember every adventure. The bus awaits, and as he boards, Samuel looks back at the cabins, grateful for newfound memories.
"I can't wait to tell my parents all about camping, fishing, and the animals we saw," Samuel thinks, his heart full of excitement and pride.
