Shalaka, a bright-eyed 5-year-old, clutched her small backpack filled with snacks and a magnifying glass. Her parents, Maya and Raj, stood nearby, discussing the day's itinerary, while Biscuit wagged his tail excitedly. Nana and Nanny sat on a bench, their eyes twinkling with anticipation.
"Where are we going first, Mommy?" Shalaka asked, her voice bubbling with excitement.
"Today, we start at the butterfly garden," Maya replied, smiling at her daughter.
Shalaka watched in awe as a bright blue butterfly landed gently on her outstretched hand. Biscuit sniffed curiously at the flowers, his nose twitching with delight.
"Did you know butterflies taste with their feet?" Nanny shared, her voice full of wonder.
"And they migrate thousands of miles each year," Nana added, pointing to a map that illustrated the Monarch butterfly's journey.
Shalaka walked hand in hand with Raj, her eyes wide with curiosity as they followed a winding path. Biscuit bounded ahead, barking at the squirrels that darted up the trees.
"Look, Shalaka," Raj said, pointing to a family of deer grazing nearby. Shalaka watched them, fascinated by their graceful movements.
"They're so quiet," she whispered, trying not to disturb the peaceful scene.
Shalaka stood with her family, feeling the cool breeze on her face as she took in the majestic panorama.
"It's like we're on top of the world," Nana said, his voice filled with awe.
"I can see forever!" Shalaka exclaimed, her arms spread wide as if to embrace the entire view.
Shalaka waded into the river, her boots splashing as she searched for stones to skip across the surface. Biscuit splashed beside her, trying to catch the ripples she created.
"The river is full of life," Maya said, showing Shalaka the tiny creatures living under the stones.
"I'm going to find a frog!" Shalaka declared, her eyes sparkling with determination.
Shalaka ran towards the water, her feet sinking into the warm sand. Biscuit chased after her, barking joyfully as the waves lapped at his paws.
"The ocean is full of mysteries," Nanny said, handing Shalaka a seashell. Shalaka held it to her ear, listening to the sound of the sea.
"I can hear the ocean!" she giggled, her face lit up with wonder.
